MAKS 2009, the IXth Aerospace Show, closed in the city of Zhukovski (Moscow Region). Along with Farnborough and Le Bourget, MAKS is one of the world’s three leading air shows and is rightfully considered one of the most important aviation events of the year. Despite the crisis in Russia and across the world MAKS-2009 became an absolute champion in the number and amount of transactions, indicating a revival of the Russian aviation. Mr Sergey Chemezov, Director General of Russian Technologies State Corporation, a major partner of MAKS-2009, shared his views on the Air Show with Ms Svetlana Fedorova from Izvestiya daily.

Yesterday Boeing and VSMPO-Avisma (part of the Russian Technologies State Corporation) announced the opening of Ural-Boeing Manufacturing (UBM) Joint Enterprise in the city of Verkhnyaya Salda in the Sverdlovsk Region. The new plant fitted out with the latest equipment and technologies will machine titanium forgings for use on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the most advanced aircraft in modern civil aviation, and for Russian-made airplanes.

Mr Chemezov shared the plans and hopes of the new joint venture with Artem Ostrovsky, Izvestiya newspaper correspondent.
